At Home in the Garden

On the south side of our home we get great sun.  It’s almost brutal at times, standing there midday, under the scorching heat of the sun overhead.  Nothing can be done with that area comfortably other than creating a space for a fantastic vegetable garden.

Three years ago, during our first attempt at cultivating this space, we ended up with little more than a mine field of weeds, hidden amongst the expensive saplings we purchased at Home Depot.  We spent over $300 for what ended up seeming like a drop in the bucket compared to the space we had available.

After this sad show of greenery, Mike took it upon himself to create planter boxes for us.  He built them from two by fours, and lined them with WeedBlock paper. He covered the area surrounding the beds with more WeedBlock paper, and further covered this with mulch to prevent…

On this very day 12 years ago, a single event shook the world. A lot can be said, has been said & will continue to be said I’m sure as the pages of history continue to be written. Our hearts and prayers will always be broken with the memory of those who lost their lives and those who were separated from their loved ones.
