Cooking Magic for Kids


Kids can learn organic gardening to grow the most delicious and healthful food. At Conejo Elementary School, kids are growing veggies in their courtyard. They applied for and received a grant from Whole Foods Market for their raised bed garden. Gardening organically produces tasty food that is good for kids and for the environment. Most commercial agriculture uses toxic man-made chemicals and inorganic fertilizers in the soil and pesticides on the crops. Instead, kids can use kitchen and garden waste to recycle into compost to grow food grown for its flavor and nutrition and picked fresh for the next meal. Organic agriculture is grown according to strict standards to achieve the U.S.D.A. Organic Label, using naturally produced fertilizers and compost.
